With state-of-the-art sports facilities like the National Training Center and PFX Athletics, it should come as no surprise that the city of Clermont in Lake County is nicknamed “The Choice of Champions.” Recently, Clermont was proudly represented at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where 20 Clermont-trained athletes from seven different countries competed. Among those 20 athletes, five gold, three silver and two bronze medals were awarded.
The city of Clermont also won something at the Olympic Games: an international audience taking note of the city’s ability to train and produce medal-winning Olympians. Since the games’ conclusion, sports teams have contacted the city, wanting to bring their teams to Clermont to train. Additionally, international investors have expressed interest in investing in the city’s growing market for athletic training.
Clermont has already attracted large-scale events to the city. The USA Canoe/Kayak National Sprint Championship 2017 will take place in Clermont. The expected 1,000-person attendance of this event will result in an economic boost for Clermont and surrounding areas.
Sports events and training facilities will continue to grow in the Orlando region, with many large projects in the works.
